AlphaPix controller support
« on: January 13, 2015, 11:12:02 AM »
HolidayCoro is marketing new controllers with the name AlphaPix, in both 4 and 16 spi output versions.

Will Xlights/Nutcracker support these controllers in the future?  They look pretty darn good for less $$$.

i am waiting to see what dave might release on the low end side in the next few months. He is talking about a board that has fuses, leds, power distribution and a plugin for a beagle black SBC. This board may be able to do 16-48 strings of lights and be starting around ~$100 for 16 strings as a kit.

With the beagle black running fpp this new board can be added into my show easily.

First Software Dave is finishing the first pass of xLights 4 he then turns into Hardware Dave to look at the low end Beagle Black controller (~$100)  and the High end Falcon-16 v2 (~$230-250).

Lots of controller choices this year. Holiday Coro board looks good also.

all of these controllers will work on xLights as a player or the FPP

Wow - that guy is amazing!!!! I'm not sure what I like more - software Dave or hardware Dave. I think my wife likes SW Dave better because it means I spend less money on lights, but as each year goes buy, the wife likes the lights more and more......I think I'll just call him Super Dave and leave it at that!!

Decisions, decisions.  I've been trying to figure out which controller to buy and the price keeps dropping.

On the flip side, I've been dragging my heels on Alibaba on which 2811 strings to buy and now the Yen is up and so are prices.  Sigh.
