Questions about the Mega Tree model
« on: April 19, 2015, 08:28:30 AM »
Do effects get rendered differently based on the selection of 180, 270 or 360 degrees?

When applying an effect to a 50 strings of 100 pixels, does it really matter if I describe these strings as a matrix, a 180-degree tree, a 270-degree tree, or 360-degree?  do the effects get applied EXACTLY in the same way regardless of this selection?

I'm assuming that the only difference between the selections is how the the strings are displayed in the visualizers... correct?

Follow-up...  if I describe a tree as 360-degrees, is there any attempt to "stitch-together" the left and right sides of the "matrix" so that spirals match-up properly?  ...or, is the assumption that the left and right come together at the back of the tree and no one will ever notice that they are slightly off?

The effect algorithms don't know what type of model they are being displayed on.  All the algorithms operate on a width and height.  So yes those options only alter the display in the preview and the position in a whole house model.

as gil said, every effect is rendered against a rectangular matrix widthxheight. When it gets shown in PREVIEW, that is whenit is wrapped to fit.

This is, BTW, why are sequences are universal. You could be all arches, i am all megatrees. your effects will be just wrapped onto my models.

Thanks for the explanation.  The big question was whether any attempt was made to 'stitch togther' the left and right sides in a 360.  The answer is no.

 Thanks.
