New tutorial on making timing marks in Audacity

I haven't watched the video but I did just do this the other day and ran into something weird in Audacity.  I created labels using the Beats and Bars plugin but when I tried to Export Labels it wouldn't popup the dialog to save the file.  So I started fresh and created a new label track by adding a manual mark and then I was able to export that track.  So I went back to my original attempt and got the idea to rename the track to Labels Track or whatever I saw on the other one and then it was popping up a dialog when I tried to export.  I even experimented and created another one using the plugin and then it was exporting using the original name so I don't what's going on with all that.  Glad to see we aren't the only program with quirky things happening.

The music is load enough when it plays but something wrong with your vocals Sean as very soft recording. Cheers

Yeah, I didn't check recording level. Maybe i will rerecord

Gil; the issue is bars, beats, nite insets creates an illegal label name for windiws. They put a colon in the label name. When you try to export label file instead of saying illegal file name, it does nothing. Click name on label track and make it a valid name. I do cover this in the video. It has been a bug in audacity at least the last few years

This may not be your issue but I had issues when I first started using Audacity. Found I was not putting an underscore (_) in the name XXXX_bars.

I didn't name the track.  It gets automatically named by the plugin and then the export was failing to execute with no error message or anything.  You hit the menu item and it would just look like nothing happened.

Yeah I know, I am saying the automatic name given by audacity is illegal. You can't export them unless u make the label name valid.

Lots of people (including myself) have been caught by this , especially if u do it after a while.

I think it s more because thee is no message at all  .
