So what model should I try?

I tried the "01 Top LT Window" and it seems ok.

What's the dimensions of this picture file? C:\Users\Robert\Pictures\house pic.jpg

When you save the model changes you should see the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file update.  You should actually be able to compare them if you save a copy and see if the size values change for that model.  Is there a problem with write access to that file in the show directory?

Issue currently is with the lawn lights and strobes right side. My laptop battery just died, on my cell now,  I'll get back to you tomorrow with the size and see if it updates with each save.

Yeah your model named "Right Side" was completely off screen.  Not sure how it got that way but it seems we need a button to center the model on the screen to be able to find a lost one.  I was able to manually edit the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file and change these 3 parameters then reopen xlights and that pulled  it onto the screen.  Just look for the model entry for "Right Side" and change these 3 values.
offsetXpct="0.2992" offsetYpct="0.2595" PreviewScale="0.2740"

Your lawn edging models all appeared to be onscreen but were all overlapping each other.

Gil, I frequently get "off screen" models when I use the Copy feature. I can almost always enlarge and rotate to grab them. But, I have had to edit the XML file for X and Y values.

A Center button would be great.

Thanks gil! I'll give it a shot tonight. A center button would definitely help. I also have the same issue as Jon with a copied element.

Hi Gil,

Interesting information about the xml - thanks.
I have a similar problem , but only when doing this on the laptop. When  I add new models to the display, it is always hidden at the bottom left corner with just a bit poking out and quite often I cant move it as grabbing the bit that sticks out only stretches that bit.

But if I connect to a large monitor , then I can drag and resize and save it , and it is fine, so that is what I normally do . But when first defining the models it can be a bit of a hassle.

If the default position was somewhere in the centre , then it would be okay.

Sometimes I've changed the definition of the model to make it larger, drag it to center, then put it back.

Thanks.

Actually , sorry, I hijacked the thread a bit - just realised that the problem reported was not being able to save the changes.
