You don't need a dummy model for anything.   Since you are always setting a start channel for each model, just set the  start channel for the thing you stick on the first LOR channel to 17.

Great, thanks

Great stuff.
Dual screen or printout so you can refer to it as you do your models.
As a final check when you have done your models, close down xL4 and restart it then check the Test page and look to see things are where you expect them.  As careful as I was I still was dyslectic with some numbers.

Good - I did the same just a few weeks ago.
Take your time . Do the setup tab first and then create the models.
Do a few first , drop effects on them etc , then come back for the others.
You must ensure that the setup tab adequately covers (ie encompasses) what you define in the models, else it may crash when you try and save.
(for example , if the setup only goes to 2000 and u define a model that goes from 1900 to 2100)
In Sean's videos he just creates a large block in the setup and then does the models carefully (as the setup can be redone at any time) , but I preferred to get it aligned the first time.

Great, thanks for the tips.
I have printed out and ripped up three lots of the spreadsheet so far, each time finding an error. Think I got it this time...... I think  :D

One other question a bit off the topic, is there somewhere where I can find all the hotkey shortcuts listed for XL4 . I discovered the U is ramp up and D is ramp down but wanted to know what the other are.

Yes easy, go to your "Show Directory" and look for the file "xlights_keybindings". It might be elsewhere but I find it there. Open it and they are there.
