A question about single color AC models
« on: May 15, 2015, 01:53:45 PM »
I am sequencing my AC single color elements in xlights.  When doing an "on" effect, do I have to have the color the same as identified for the element?  For example, I have green, red, & white mini trees.   I am setting each "on" effect using the same color as the mini tree to which I am applying the "on" effect.   I was thinking maybe I could just set every one of the "on" effects to red, green, & white and that I could then cut/paste from element to element.   That didn't seem to work though...   Conceptual error here??
THANKS

In general, just use White.   The Single Color Red/Green/Blue pull the data out of the appropriate channel so using white will work for all of the "single color" types at this point.

Can any of you guys explain the proper way to setup an AC channel in more detail.  Primarily how to set up existing model templates.  For example a tree or wreath on single channel or any of the available template models.   Im using LOR 16 channel controller, Enttec compatible dongle on a Mac.  I have no problem getting the lights on test mode.  Also to use with rgb matrix.  Even play a sequence I converted from LOR.   But for some reason I cannot get them to come on using a simple on effect through a musical or animation sequence. I know I'm missing something but I can't figure out what it is.  Please help.

I am on a work PC right now so I don't know the exact setup steps.   Have you setup the channels for your single element models in the setup screen?   Are you seeing them in your layout screen?   I haven't ever done it, but xlights can generate test signals to test lights.  There are some other steps too like "output to lights"...  Others can help more than me I am certain of that...

Hello Ruz,
Am not familiar with LOR at all, but when u drop the on effect on the single channel, is the colour of the on effect correct ? In my case, where I have some single channels connected via dmx, I set it to white; but the on effect needs to be changed to white after dropping.
May not be your issue..

If you could find or someone could link Dan's recent video for doing A/C channel chases that should be all you need to figure out how to setup and run them.

Thanks gerry. That was the problem.  Thank you everyone else for their input.  Dans. video also helped me to better sequence with AC channels.
