model mapping for downloaded xml
« on: July 05, 2015, 02:31:27 PM »
I am looking for a way to save a map of models from one user to another.  When you open an xml file from someone else you have to go thru each model in their xml and translate it to one of your own models or delete that reference in the downloaded sequence.  I have often had to go back and do the import again, because I could not tell from a model name what was the best corresponding model in my own setup.  I recently had to do that with a sequence that 80 models, most of which were not used and I only needed about 8 of them.  Its hard to tell if the first "tree??" is the mega tree or something else until you have dealt with all of the incoming models once.  In addition, I have occasionally gotten two or more xml files from another user.  Would nice to be able to build a model map that could be saved and used at will.  Maybe its time to do a map app for xlights users instead of LOR users.  Would sure help in sequence sharing.
