XML vs fseq file size problem
« on: July 23, 2015, 12:24:17 PM »
When saving an animation only sequence the "fseq" file size jumps to 501,313KB !
The animation is only 2 minutes with "ON" effects, 7 Universes.
The xml file size is only 10KB.
My FPP does want to play it.

When saving a sequence with media that is about 3 minutes long the "fseq" file size is only about 10,765MB.

I don't think that is right what can be wrong here (4.1.12) ?

How many universes are in your setup? The sequence has 7, do you have more in your setup tab in NC?

Can you accomplish the same sequence with a different frame rate resulting in 1/2 the frames? IE go from 25 to 50 or 50 to 100ms?

Going from 25 to 100 should result in a file size 1/4 the size. Get rid of the unused universes and the file will be even smaller.

Just some known details to decrease the output file size.

I'd have to check later.  I know we use the length of the media to determine the size of the output file so there might be a problem with there not being a media file.  Along the same lines I've wanted to be able to trim some seconds off the end of my sequences to remove dead space and I don't think we are currently honoring changes to the sequence duration when creating output files.

Thanks flyinverted and Gilrock,
There is a total of 7 universes in the setup also.
Something has to be a bug in my program, just cant be that size given how small it is.
I'm going to build from scratch a new setup and sequence to see what happens.
again, thanks

UPDATE: FIXED
Removed effects from layers one at a time and saved.  no change still large "fseq"
Installed media no fix.
Removed media no fix.
I completely rebuilt a new setup, model and sequence without media (animation only) and Bingo "fseq" size is now 50x smaller?
I think the Bug had to be a glitch in the model.  Although the model is the same as used in two different sequences with media.
