multiple models
« on: August 02, 2015, 08:02:52 AM »
I am working on my first all NC sequence. The mega tree is done and I am adding the mini trees now. I made multiple models of the mini trees, single 3 channel model of each tree and a 30 channel arch style model. The They share the same channels so they both display the effects. I end up with two rows of trees on my lay out. I can do my single tree sequencing stuff and the NC effects on the arch model. I want to also add a two coro flakes and coro star. I want to have single leg and section models because I have not been able to get the look I want from NC effects. I have them added as custom models so I can have a whole house layout, or use some NC effects. But I am going to end up with tow and three of the same model types of pieces on my preview. Are there plans for a track option in the sequencer so you can have a waveform and a grid with each model in a small view. With the 10 tree models and the future multiple versions of the coro flake and star it will be cumbersome. I have my show in LOR and will be blending in the new stuff but have not tried that yet. Can I create the effects for my single part models in LOR and make a custom effect?  Also I tend to sequence in sections  and when I get something I like I will paste it where it repeats throughout the song.  In NC when I jump ahead I have problems working in the blank areas in-between. just looking for thoughts and advice....

Jim that was not an easy long paragraph to follow along.  Can you create a video and show what you're talking about.

I highly doubt there will be a separate waveform for each model view. You can use the Views feature to show/hide certain models in your sequence.

As far as creating custom effects (Presets they're called in NC), you can import effects from LOR which is just importing the LOR LMS,LAS,SUP file and those effects are displayed as an equivalent NC effect. You can then save those effects to your NC Presets.

If you don't have a WHM in any sequence yet, DO NOT USE THE WHOLE HOUSE MODEL Feature.  It is there for backwards compatibility. Use Model groups instead.  I repeat DO NOT USE THE WHM feature.

Your sequence should have timing marks from start to end. There should be no blank space in the sequence because you'll having timing marks from start to end.  What issue are you having? Put that in your video.

Sorry about rambling, I spent several hours working with the sequencer last night and have answered some of my own questions. I am going to watch the several of the new videos before I ask anything else. The problem about dropping in effects if it continues to be a problem I will make a video. Thanks.

Just a couple tips.  You can create Views in xLights to quickly switch between what you want to sequence similar to tracks in LOR.

I think the problem you have dropping effects in the in-between areas is that you can only drop if there are timing marks but there is an alternative way.  Uncheck the selection circle beside the timing tracks so that none are selected and then you can drop effects anywhere.  They will default to a 1 second duration and then you drag them out to the size you want.
