Tune To Sign help please
« on: September 29, 2015, 05:00:40 PM »
Hi,

I have 400 12mm bullet pixels that have been laying around for a couple of years that I would like to make into a Tune-to sign.  I have the model setup in XL/NC as a horizontal matrix of 12 rows x 33 columns.

I would like to have the marquee effect going around the edges of the matrix and scrolling text going across the rest of the matrix.  I looked around for a tutorial or example but I can't find any.  I have only done single, simple effects so far, I have never tried layering or blending effects.

Can somebody help me out with how to set this up?  Thanks!

Martin,
Use the Layering options in XL.  Add a second layer to the matrix model for your sign (right click on the model in the sequence and select add layer below). Then go to the Layering panel and add marque effect to one layer and then the text effect to the other layer.  Next go to the layering options and work with each one until you get the desired results (I still have to do this trial and error).

Thanks!  I have it working now, it looks good.  I ended up switching the order of the layers so the marquee was on top.  The text was over-writing the sides of the marquee the other way.

I was playing around with different dimensions for the sign.  It started out as 12 x 33,  I changed the model definition to 16 x 25.  When I went back to the sequencer tab, the display was completely jumbled up.  I tried closing and re-opening the sequence but that did not help.  I ended up creating a new sequence and then it looked fine.  Is changing the size of a model once it is in a sequence something you are not supposed to do?  I am on version 4.2.13.

No, you can change a model, but until you Save (and it renders), the FSEQ file still has the old layout stored.
The Save always rewrites the data (with the new layout) to the FSEQ file.
