Xlights not responding
« on: October 21, 2014, 04:02:02 PM »
Every time I save a sequence xlights locks up and says not responding. It can go on for a few minutes to ten or more minutes before it finally responds. Any clue?
Thanks

It may appear to be not responding, but if you have a lot of channels and a lot of timing marks it can take a while to render the sequence.  Watch the lower left corner of your screen when you click the save button and that may give you and us more info.

Thanks Jim. I get the little green circle going around on the screen and the words at the top not responding. Nothing going on at the bottom like such as showing what model it is saving. I rellay think it was the sequence I was trying to save that was converted from vixen. Think I have a handle on it now.

I am having this happen on one of my sequences.  It started with a corrupt "beats" file (which has been resolved), and now the save hangs up about 2 out of 3 attempts.  First, the models at the bottom stop cycling, then I get the circle going around and the "not responding" at the top.  If I click anywhere, the screen goes white.   I have to close the program at this point.  So far, the sequence has apparently saved.    Sometimes it take upwards of 30 seconds to save the sequence when it saves (4.0 gHz, 8 cores, 16 Mb of ram), and if this is normal, I'm OK as long as the sequence is saved.   This is the same file I was having some trouble with earlier.  I guess what I am asking is how long does it take to save a moderately involved sequence?  There are around 4,500 channels.
