Xlight Setup Problem
« on: September 10, 2015, 12:44:17 PM »
My setup is fairy simple. I'm using a sandevice E6804 and 4) 50 node smart 2811 rgb lights. When I'm in the sandevice setup all rgb's work fine. Once I'm in Xlights I can only get 3 out of the 4 strands to work. I have attached three screen shots of my setup. Hope someone can see where I went wrong. TIA  Rick

You have the Sandevices setup for 100 pixels per string and you only defined 50 per string in xLights.  And in Sandevices setup you have it configured for using Universes 1 through 4 but in xLights you only define universes 1 and 2.  There are a whole lot of things you don't have matched up right.

I make the XL setup to look just like the sandevice setup screen. In your case, I am not sure why you are starting a new universe for every output port.  I would have just let the sandevice dictate the end channel for output 1 and then start output 2, same universe and plus 1 on the channel. Then on the output 4, it will end up with x universe and channel 'y'.  When you set up XL, then have it use 510 channels for each universe and you should be fine.  I could not see the model setup but trust that Gil answered that one for you.

I forgot to add this detail. The rgb's outline my gutters. There's an upper and lower. On the output on the Sandevice I have the upper gutters on universe 1 with two 50 node strands. On the lower gutters the output is on universe 2 with two 50 node strands. So how should I have my Sandevice setup? Then in Xlights I what to have three different models. One that is for all the gutters. One for just the upper and one for the lower so I can use different elements  for each model. Thanks again for the help

I dont know anything about the E6804 controller.

However , what I would do is ignore the all gutter model (for this exercise ).

The Top gutter could be number of nodes = 50 and strings = 2 (or number of nodes = 100 and strings = 1 if these are contiguous addresses).

Similarly for the lower gutter

Then define two universes - 01 for the top gutter (covering 100 pixels 300 channels ) and 02  for the bottom gutter covering 100 pixels, 300 channels).

If however , u want to leave the controller definition as is , then

Top gutter should have 2 of 50 or 1 of 100 and cover 300 channels (1-300)
Bottom gutter should have 2 of 50 or 1 of 100 and cover 300m channels (301-600)
xl Setup should have
universe 1 - 150 channel
universe 2 - 151- 300 channel
universe 3 - 301 - 450 channel
universe 4 - 451  600 channel

Look at the end channel definitions on the controller - the last 2 don't look correct.

I have tried everything that you guys have suggested but nothing works. I know that it has to do with Xlights because I can get the lights to work in the Sandevice setup. If anyone else has some ideas I'm all ears.

Thanks,
Rick

Your original screenshots of you SanDevice setup is wrong.  Have you made any changes?  The test mode on the SanDevices page does not test whether you have properly configured the receipt of E1.31 data and mapped it to the correct outputs so don't just automatically think xLights has a problem.

There are multiple ways to set it up.  But just do this.  In SanDevices define output 1 as you had it....100 pixels starting at universe 1 channel 1 and going to channel 300.  For output 2 define it as 100 pixels starting at universe 1 channel 301 and ending at channel 600.  Then in xLights you map to those channels 1 to 600.  You can break it up into 1 model, 2 models, or 4 models.  It's best to just do something and see if it works.  When it doesn't post your xLights models, Setup tab, and your SanDevices setup screen here and tell us what it's doing.  Otherwise when you say you've tried everything we said we have no way to confirm what you have done.
