Matrix model
« on: October 20, 2015, 11:58:59 AM »
OK it's official I'm stupid. I have a matrix consisting of 12 strings of 100 each pixels I have them physically arranged on the matrix starting at the bottom left-hand corner when facing the matrix in vertical columns 25 pixels up 25 pixels down 25 up 25 down for a total of four per 100 pixel string. This repeats 12 times.  On my f16v2 controller I have virtual strings defined coming from 12 different outputs each of the virtual strings is 25 nodes. What I get on the matrix physically is gibberish, garbled doesn't look like anything so can somebody please enlighten me as to where I've gone wrong here

update as I've been further testing when I have a simple element running on the matrix what it appears is that the matrix is divided in half at approximately the middle horizontally with the affected being duplicated on the top and the bottom of the matrix another words approximately 12 top pixels are displaying mirror image of the bottom 12 pixels. However what displays in X lights in the house preview and the model preview look like I would expect in other  words it is not divided.

Shouldn't it be setup more like...

vertical matrix
actual number of string: 12
# of rgb per string 100
# of strands per string 4

I answered in your duplicate post.  But if you did it like vince suggested then the folding is done in xLights.  I prefer to do the folding in the controller.

Thanks for the responses I am making the changes while I'm at work and will tested on the matrix when I get off work later tonight sorry for the duplicate post didn't realize when I posted picture I must've posted it twice. Gil didn't mean to seem like I was fishing by posting on Facebook after I posted here in the forum I read the Facebook post, and realized it was exactly the same problem I was having. I deal with answer shopping in my line of work all the time it's a huge frustration of mine I apologize if it seemed that that's what I was doing!!

Ok I got home and set the matrix model vertical 12, 100 nodes, 4 strands per and left the controller with 12 outputs no zigzag and the output is still garbage.

Next set the model to vertical 12, 100, 1 stand per and put 4 zigzags in the controller (F16V2) and the output is still garbage.

Created a simple animation with bars going up, then left, right, etc  so it would be very simple to see what was happening and when it is going left it looks mostly normal but when it goes to vertical it gets all funky.

I know this is something simple I'm missing.  Thanks for any help!!!

Ok back at it today and I believe I have it corrected.  After correcting the matrix to a vertical as described above I carefully looked at my set up page and test page in xLights.  I noted that for some reason the info there did not match what was showing on my model pages.  I closed all and  exited xlights completely and restarted fresh than went back and checked the setup and testing tabs again and the data now had refreshed.  After testing with fresh start the matrix and other elements seem to display correctly.

Thanks for all your help!
