? Dumb RGB Models?
« on: October 27, 2015, 05:45:24 AM »
How do you do this?  I can't seem to get my mini trees (that are dumb rgb) to do anything but red.

you only have channel 1 defined in the custom model.

You either need to use a preset model or create 3 different models one for channel 86(red), one for 87(green) and one for 88(blue).

Edit: Since they are dumb rgb's you don't really need a custom model. The way you have it look nice for the layout but you can just easily make it a vertical or something.

They are all red because that is the only channel you activated in your custom model.  Take the custom model out.  For my old 3 string LED minis I used tree 180 with 3 channel RGB. but I have deleted those models now so I don't have the details. You can play around with strands and node counts to see if that will give you something acceptable on the layout display

If you want every location in the custom model to be all 3 colors it would probably be best to model it as RGB nodes with only 1 node.  I think the way you have it defined its expecting you to use the values 1, 2, and 3 to show where each of the 3 strings reside.

Gill not sure if I understand you correctly. Does it mean for instance every prop that was already drawn out as a RGB 3 channel and mapped out, cannot be that way?  Can I not have the props as I have drawn them if they are "dumb" rgb?  The stuff in yellow is the ONLY thing that is incan. Everything but the pixel tree is dumb rgb.

I wasn't saying you need to redraw anything.  Just change the drop-down node type from 3 channel rgb to rgb nodes.  I just wanted you to experiment with one model to see if it changes your issue since I'm not at my pc to try anything.

Nope.
Colorwash will work on the dumb pixels but not butterfly and possibly others.
If I could get at a node in the pixel tree, then maybe I could copy the info from that single pixel. However when you open it up all the way, you can't copy the node info.

butterfly wont work because they are dumb nodes, they all have to be the same color.

Gil was just saying to change your node type to rgb then you should be able to use red or green or blue or any other color besides just red that you are posted in the original post.

Edit: Setting your dumb node strings to RGB and only 1 node basically tells nutcracker that it is one 3 channel light string. R G and B. It is not telling it that it is a smart string.

Ok.
I apologize. Looks like a lot of stuff will work. Just the first thing I tried, butterfly, would not. It will also work on RGB nodes or 3 channel. Still learning :-)
