Ok so what I am seeing here is that i would use the Pi player to run my show instead of X lights. I would sequence then convert and load it all on the PI player. Is this correct?
There are other ways but the xLights to Raspberry Pi / FPP is by far the easiest and probably the most stable method. I've been playing with FPP video since the Beta v0.3.0 was released and I can't wait to try video projection as part of my Halloween & Christmas Shows.
The answer is yes you are correct.
- Sequence your lights in the sequencer of your choice which is supported by xLights (Vixen 2.x, Vixen+, HLS, LOR, etc. - Vixen3 not supported at this time) using the audio from your video file to keep the lights and video sound in sync
-use xLights to convert from the sequencer format to .fseq type used by FPP
-configure your output to controllers in FPP
-use the file manager in FPP to download the .fseq file and the mp4 (or mkv) video file.
-create a playlist which links each sequence to a video (among other things)
-connect Raspberry Pi to projector (composite and HDMI supported)
-play and/or schedule playlist
-enjoy the show
It may be a little more complicated that that but not by much and the people here and at http://falconchristmas.com/ are always very helpful when you have questions.
