Pixlite 16 and X lights setup help
« on: June 13, 2014, 01:58:39 PM »
Hey all. I am really struggling here with my new setup. So I got the pixlite 16 controller and I am having issues with it in X lights. I have two strings attached to it and have the channels set different for each element but they continue to do the same model... what am I missing here??? Did I set something up incorrectly?

In xlights setup tab, set e1.31 universes to have 510 ch per universe.

In your models, u need to set start universe and start channel.

Suppose you have four strings of 100 nodes, or 300 channels per string. Now, suppose you plan on connecting two strings for each port on the pix lite-16

Two strings of lights on the first port will use 600 channels. Since there are 510 channels per universe you will need universe 1 and part of universe 2

Port 1
Starting universe 1
Starting channel 1

Port 2
Universe 2
Starting ch 91

Port 3
Universe 3
Start ch. 81

maybe you could ask this question the the pixlite forum over on ACL
http://auschristmaslighting.com/forums/index.php?board=66.0

I dont know their hardware. I know xlights has been used for E!.31 controllers. E682, E6804, j1sys p12r, p12s, Falcon-16 and others. It is the same interface.
In xLights setup set every universe to 510.
Next go to the TEST tab and verify lights come on in the entire range of your hardware.
If this doesnt work, i can only guess it is something in the setup of the pixlite board itself.

sorry, i cant be of more help

I have the 16 channel Pixlite, and I just configured it today for 12 - 50 pixel 2811 strips.
I had better luck with the following configuration.
In the Pixlite app I want to the advanced tab and manually configured each out put as it's own universe with 50 pixels.
Output 1 was universe 11 with channles 1 -150
Output 2 was universe 12 with channles 1 -150
and so on.

In xLights
Add e1.31
Unicast - xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Starting universe 11
# of Universes 12
Last Channel 150
Click OK

Then just make sure your Models are mapped correctly.

If you want to test the pixel strings just for basic functionality, you don;t need xLights:

The controller features a built-in test pattern to assist in troubleshooting during an installation. To put the controller into this mode, simply press and hold the ‘Factory IP’ button for 3 seconds (after the controller is already running.) The controller will then enter the test pattern mode and will display red, green, blue and white sequentially in a repeating pattern on all pixels on each of the 16 outputs. Pressing the button while in this mode will then cycle through each of the four colors successively (on all outputs simultaneously) before returning to the current pattern again.
To exit the test mode simply press and hold the ‘Factory IP’ button down again for 3 seconds and then release.
