12 string ccr to 24 string pixel
« on: November 24, 2015, 06:48:08 AM »
I contacted Holidaysequences the other day about one of their sequences they had for a ccr tree. Told him that I had a 24 string, 40 pixel string tree. Asked him about how much of his sequences would be chopped off. Was actually looking at his 16 ccr sequences thinking that it might not clip off too much on the sides and just use those. He said to get a 12 string one and convert it on xLights. How would I do that?

If you get the sequence in SuperStar (.sup) format then you can import that onto a model in xLights.  Since the effects we use in xLights are percentage based they will scale to larger models.  The only thing that doesn't scale is something like a morph that goes up a single strand.  Since it doesn't have any width it doesn't stretch in that direction.  Text effects don't import perfectly and we don't have multi-colored letters yet.

I have several of their 12CCR and 16CCR sequences.   Going to 24 strings, I'd likely suggest the 12CCR as that would exactly double the images.   However, the 40 pixels tall could be an issue as I'm not sure if we can scale down or not.   I only tested scaling up.   If you send me your xlights_* files, I could try importing one of the 12CCR and see what happens.

All of the morphs and flowy effects should scale either direction.

Thanks for the offer. Still not sold yet if I am going to add the sequence this year or not. I have a pretty full play list and am going to be adding Penatonix "Mary..." soon as I have time to put it together ;-)  Almost done with the display. Few more things... then we will see about the "Star Wars" addition as well.
Thanks everyone.
