Need test pictures to display on megatree
« on: November 29, 2015, 12:37:22 PM »
I have not tried displaying pictures on my new megatree yet.  Could somebody send me a picture or two to test with?  My 360 tree is 48 strands of 25 Pixabulbs, so I guess I need a picture that will display on half of it?

I have not done any research yet on how to generate pictures that will display well, any pointers or references on that would be great too.  Thanks!

For most pictures and text, you really don't want to use the 360 degree tree.  I have a second model "MegaTreeFront" which is a 180 tree which points to the front strands of my 360 tree.  For effects that I want to go all the way around the tree, I use the "MegaTree" model.  For others, I use the "MegaTreeFront" model.

Ok, I can do that.

Is there a tutorial or anything out there that shows what needs to be done to an image to get it to display correctly?    I seem to remember seeing that you had to do something to an image, but I can't find it now.

use images search on google. Click search, size and only look at icons. our trees are about 1/4 the size of icons. Look for images with just a few colors and hard edges. Picture of mickey mouse works, picture of your gray cat not. if your matrix is 20x50 you could try resizing as 20x20, 20x 30, 20x50, 50x50. remember the pictures effect allows you to move the image. sometimes seeing part of the image at higher resolution works.

if you have an animated gif you need something like http://ezgif.com/ to resize it.

I just don't have enough resolution on my tree to get much to look good.  I'll have to consider that when I build the next one.
