Pixels out of alignment
« on: December 15, 2015, 09:08:23 AM »
First off the software is great.  I have started with some very basic sequences, but the software was easy to use and understand.  I built an 8 foot pixel tree using 8 strings of 50 pixels folded in half to create 16 strands.  My set up in Xlights is as follows:  Model Name: Pixel Tree, Display as: Tree 180, Type of string:  RGB nodes, Actual # of strings: 50, # of RGB nodes per string: 2, Start Channel: 1, From Output 1, Start coer is: bottom left.  I am using a LOR  Pixcon 16 controller.  I am not sure why some of the pixels seem to be out of alignment.  As an example, when the red and green waves or bars move up the tree it seems that there are some red where green should be and visa versa.  You can tell that it is a wave, but they are not crisp lines.  Could this be a function of the conversion from Xlights to LOR or with the Pixcon setup?  Thanks Rick

Setup in xLights will depend on whether you plan to do the string folding in xLights or the controller.
For folding in controller use:  16 strings, 25 nodes per string, 1 strand per string
For folding in xlights use: 8 strings, 50 nodes per string, 2 strands per string

May be that is my problem.  I may have set up the controller and Xlights to fold.  I know I did in Xlights, will have to check the controller.  I thought you had to set up both the controller and the software indicating a fold.  So you only have to set up either the software or the controller to fold, not both.  Is that correct?
Thanks

Not only is it either or,  In the model you have described you said your tree is only 2 pixels high.

Typo.  It should have read:  My set up in Xlights is as follows:  Model Name: Pixel Tree, Display as: Tree 180, Type of string:  RGB nodes, Actual # of strings: 8, # of RGB nodes per string: 50, # of strands per string: 2, Start Channel: 1, From Output 1, Start coer is: bottom left.  I am using a LOR  Pixcon 16 controller.

Thanks

The red/blue test is a great way to verify your settings.

Red/Blue test indicated I am off by 1 pixel (3 channels).  I hope solving this will correct the alignment.

Thanks
