Star model displaying only white for individual strands

I noticed an issue today with my star model. The model as a whole displays colors correctly. However, if I choose an individual strand in the star then the only color that it will display is white. I attached some pics to demonstrate. The first pic is On effect placed at the Star level. You can see that it is green as is selected in my color palette. The second pic shows the On effect placed at a strand level. The color palette is still green, however, the strand is showing up in white. The third shows my star model settings. I've tried saving, rendering, re-opening, etc. Is this a limitation of the star model? Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a bug?

No, not a limitation of the star model.
No, it looks like you have everything right in your images.
I can't duplicate your results.  I tested my 3 layer star and can correctly control the color of each layer in the preview window.

I'm using 2016.1. I know they pulled the 2016.1 and 2016.2 because people were having issues with them. I haven't had any issues so far so I left it as is. I will switch back though if it's possible that this is an issue of the new builds.

I did my quick testing under 2016.2b on the Mac.  It could be platform specific?

Perhaps. I'm on a PC. This is my first time using it (the star not the PC  ) so I can't say if it worked before.

I just tried this again on the 2016.3 BETA and it is working as expected.
