Arch help....no doubt a simply solution
« on: December 08, 2015, 11:07:26 PM »
I have 8 arches, do to a wire shortage cause buy supplier sending wrong wire, I had to turn 2 arch the opposite direction of others.  I thought I would be able to say it started in opposite  corner.  Set it up that way, but all the chases on those 2 go left to right while  the other 6 go right to left.  I'm giving up for the night....please help this noob:-*

I have a few that are like that.  Where the default for the model is bottom left, I make the others bottom right.  Re-render the sequence and done.

I just change the direction in the controller.  I have 2 of 6 that are reversed - for my convenience in wiring lengths only.

Hi I was just wondering if this bug might be getting fixed this year as I tried a few ways to get mine to work properly   but I just gave up as pretty much everybody didn't even know that half my arches were working in reverse.

If you check out one of my videos you can see the two front arches to the left and the two on the left near my strip tree were controlling in reverse.  They were both set up with start points from the right.

It is not a bug!!!  You have to make sure that your controller knows where sequenced pixel number 1 is.  That is what happens when you tell the controller to reverse the string.  It makes the last pixel on the string be the first channel.  That is all done in hardware.  Otherwise if you have 50 pixels in an arch (150 channels) you would have to start your sequence and go from 150 down to 1.  xlights will not do that unless you start using custom models.  Why bother when the hardware will do it for you.

If it was not a bug and it is a hardware/setup issue.  I do not understand why they bother giving you an option in the arch set up?
I found that if you change the starting point on other items e.g my icicles on the peak of my roof, Xlights was able to make it work without going into the hardware setup.

Yeah I would think it would swap just like a matrix does so I'll try to remember to look at it.  Might help to log it on Github since we are looking at other things at the moment.
