This year I will be putting Bethlehem stars on top of my megatrees and I will have five point stars on my minitrees (both from James70818--Boscoyo).  I am thinking maybe I should set the megatrees as a model (which is what I did last year for the megatrees w/out stars...), set the megatrees' stars as another model, the minitrees as another model, and the minitrees' stars as another model.    Your recommendations would be VERY much appreciated!!!!  Thanks in advance.

You can set many models for the same elements. The stars, for example, can be modeled as stars and single strand. That will provide more sequencing options.

Danj, not sure why the indecision.  Draw the models and then you can GROUP them together.  E.g. each mini tree on it's own, then make a group with the mini tree and it's star, and then a group of all the mini trees, or every other mini tree etc.

Go wild with it, as suggested above, make some duplicate different shaped models so you can drop different effects on the other non visually representative models.

See the post the other day from a fellow with concentric circles and all the custom models he drew up of it.

All my trees, mega and mini are separate models.  All my stars are separate models.  All my mini trees are also grouped as well as the mini stars.

Thanks for the replies!  I was thinking I might want to have some chase effects across just the stars--would this be the reason to set them up as single line models?   I am probably stating models/groups incorrectly.  I have built models of all the individual elements...   I figured someone had already figured out the best way to do this!!
I really appreciate the help.

I added stars to my mini trees today. I have 8 mini trees models in a group called Mini Trees All. I created a new 5 point star with 10 nodes and then made 7 more copies changing the name on each: Star 2, Star 3, etc... I then went in Model Groups to create a new group called Stars All and added 1-8 stars. I created another 8 groups each combining Mini Tree and Star. I.e. Mini Tree w Star 1, MiniTree w Star 2, etc... This way I can use individual combinations of mini trees and stars, mini trees alone, or stars alone. If that doesn't work for my sequencing then I can change it. Many options here.

I finally have all of my RGB layout done and am adding single color (mostly white- snowfall tubes, deer, snowman, Eiffel Tower, etc...) I am using Custom models for these guys. Hope that helps.
