Adjusting Effects "Linked" to Timeline Marker
« on: March 29, 2016, 08:35:54 PM »
Maybe there's already a setting that I haven't discovered, but I think there might be value in a feature that allows the timing of effects (that are linked to a timeline marker) to adjust as the timeline marker is adjusted.

For example, I often have to go in and make minor tweaks to the timeline markers (to sync with the audio).  After that, I also have to then go in and adjust all the effects to align with this tweaked marker.

Or is this something that already exists, I just haven't noticed?

How are you creating your timing marks?

Watch what I do in this video around the 1:08 mark:

Effects are not linked to timing marks.  Timing marks are used for placement only and once placed an effect has no idea which timing track was used to create it.  But you can select all the effect edges along with the timing mark and move them as shown in that video.

Thanks Gil--that technique at 1:08 is another way to do what I was wondering about.

I didn't recognize that you could turn OFF any of the timing tracks (which then allows you do drag-select).

The reason I asked about how you place timing marks is because I haven't had a need to adjust marks when placed by audacity plugins.  I use "Bar and Beat Tracker:Beats".  Most of my songs are simple signatures, 4/4 for example, so it does a wonderful.  It might struggle on songs where the tempo changes and the signature(s) are more complex.

Yeah, I'm using Audacity.

But like you said, there are times on more complex songs (or in general) when I need to adjust timing marks.
