one strand around window
« on: March 27, 2016, 01:40:39 PM »
I looked through the forum and didn't find this answer. How do I let the layout know that four strips (because to trace a window I have to make four strips in the layout) around one window are actually one "LED" strip only taking up one channel.
Thanks.
Also this Forum is awesome. I am new to this and building my first show this Halloween and Christmas. Any Halloween Sequences would be nice.

Under model list highlight  the model you're working on click modify and in the next window under (type of string) select 3 Channel RGB. When you build your model under model name is the line (display as )you can change that to window frame to build a window frame the easy way. If you have built this as a custom model you may have to click on the box individual start channels and manually enter your channel numbers.

Thanks for that answer that was what i needed. One more thing. My roof is a gable roof. and my view is that of the side. So as I layout my strip it bends at the peak of the "^" gable. I have two of these which run one string each. In the layout i have to make two strings. in order for me to make it act like one string I have reduced the number of nodes  for the lay out to give me a combined number to match the string then grouped them. Is that the way I should do it to give me the look of a single string of lights.

Thanks,
Jay T.

If you're talking about smart strings or nodes you would make two different models with the channels matching your layout. So if you have 100 nodes 50 of one side and 50 down the other as an example the left side roof model labeled roof line 1a would be set up for DMX Universe 1 starting Channel 1 as an example. Then the next model would be roof line 1b with a DMX Universe 1 starting channel 151. I hope that clears things up
