Shrinking Superstar files down?
« on: May 18, 2016, 03:46:48 AM »
Maybe not the right title.  I have a 24x40 pixel tree. Don't really want to fool with extending it to 50 high. I am interested in some of the LOR sequences I see on "Holidaysequences.com". Unfortunately most of these are 50 pixels high. Is there a way these sequences down to fit my 40 pixel high tree?

Most effects should scale automatically. However, that doesn't mean they will look good. Going larger is obviously less forgiving than going smaller.

Well if they don't already do this they should have a simple sequence they provide as a free sample so you can test out the process.  The sequences will import automatically and play as is but its a question of what type of effects were used as to how good it will look.  If there were scenes/photos you may need to tweak the settings for them after import.

Well I was considering purchasing some from this site. I really don't want to purchase any if it won't work well. I realize that I may have to cut 5 off top and bottom, but most I looked at wouldn't be a problem. I will look around to see if there are any free ones to try out first. The biggest thing you mentioned was that they could be tweaked AFTER import. THAT would work for me.

It depends on how you import. If you import the Superstar file, those effects can be edited. But if you import the lms as a data layer, those can't.

Well you can pay them $20 to experiment or pay me $20 to tell you how to do it. :)

I can send you a sample superstar file to play with. Let me know if you are interested.

There is a resizing utility out there for SS files. I think it was for adding/removing legs to a tree. Not sure about the height. I have the app. I'll find it and give it a try.

James that would be AWESOME!
I will PM you my email address.  I'm a middle school band director and summer break is just 2 days away (YES!). So it is time to build and learn new software. Almost all of my display is going to pixels next year.  I didn't even try doing my pixel tree with LOR last year. All with Xlights. So I honestly just need to bite the bullet and learn how to do everything, and just convert it all.
Thanks!!!!

That would be great if you are able to find this.

You don't need a 3rd party utility we already do that conversion when you import?  I wrote that code.
