... If you would have spent time learning the software, then come back with questions.

I'm sorry if you feel that I wasted everybody's time. I was hoping for a quick answer for a hypothetical question that I should have admittedly posed in a simpler way, so as a result, the answers went completely off-track. I tend to be wordy to explain things to the point of of TMI.

Perhaps it's ingrained in me because it's part of my day job, but for large projects I also tend to plan things to death before actually starting a task, anticipating any problems ahead of time before I've gone too far down the wrong path.

The reason why I even thought of asking the question in the first place is that I'm lucky enough to live fairly near CaptainMurdoch who has taken the time, effort, and genius talent to improve this hobby for all of us over the past few years. He gave me a huge hand getting my F16-B units to work in a short amount of time. This past December was the first year he had a chance to to a full-scale light display for his own home, so I was excited to see what he was capable of doing. As I was watching his show in my car with him standing beside me outside, I vaguely remembered him mentioning that there were pixel artifacts where the pixels weren't doing what he wanted to do when he was doing certain whole house effects, and I thought he mentioned something to do with a grid size/density. I thought I'd come to the premier forum for Xlights and post my first question. I was hoping for a quick explanation of how and why this would happen, but I think I just got pooped on.

So I did a quick test.  I created two matrix objects.  I dragged one of them down to a tiny size.  I created a model group that contained the tiny matrix.  Both matrix objects mapped to channel 1 so they would display the same data.  The big matrix will echo anything placed on the small matrix.

Result.  I dropped a single Butterfly effect on the model group that contained the tiny matrix.  The result depends on the "Buffer Style" you select for the effect.  You really need to learn what those mean to understand why it comes out different.  It's kinda complicated.  Look at the attached image to see the different results.

Bottom line is all pixels will light up with something.

Thanks for your answer. You posted your response as I was typing my previous wordy post.

The whole house effects may not look perfect with a simplified "straight line" model for my bushes, but at least all my pixels will light up.
