Release 38 scrambled preview

Hey all,

I just installed release 38 and my preview is skewed....  My MT now starts showing effects about a third of the way up the tree....then goes off the top and wraps back to the bottom....  I suspect other elements are also skewed but I haven't confirmed that yet.

I tried going back to release 37 and there is no preview at all.

I don't know if this is a setup issue or a preview issue.....  Not even sure where to start looking.... Luckily everything is backed up.....whew..... 

Any thought would be appreciated.

I think it was expressed not to go backwards from this release. I hope you have a backup.

Yeah....everything is backed up in multiple locations...I learned that lesson a long time ago...

A picture of the preview?  I attached a screenshot....you might be able to make out Christmas candles that go out the top of the tree and scroll out the top of the tree and reenter at the bottom of the tree.

As to sharing files I could do that if I knew what files would help.

I suspect that this has something to do with the setup and preview numbers not matching. 
I exported an XL sequence to HLS just to check to see if it was just my XL preview and the HLS preview doesn't work either.....so it must be a channel assignment mismatch of some sort...

UPDATE:  I found it.  When I updated to version 38 somehow one of my universes lost some channels in setup....  It should have had 510 but was only sitting with 300....  I was thinking of renumbering things to play around to see if I could figure out where the discrepancy was.   I was copying my channel assignments into a spreadsheet when I noticed the incorrect number.  Never had that happen before on an upgrade.  But all is well now and working as usual.

Lol....wasn't trying to place blame....  I just wanted to post what I found in case others encounter the same problem and maybe my phraseology was a bit too matter of fact..... My spousal unit is forever telling me that I'm too direct sometimes and not tactful enough...  It seems to amplify that shortcoming on a forum....when no one can see facial expressions....   

I fully understand that 'stuff' can happen any time you upgrade....a momentary blip, not the fault of anyone, can cause havoc.....I've learned that from painful experience...

If I had REALLY been blaming anyone I would have said it point blank...."It's ALL Gil's fault!"

Installing an upgrade doesn't even touch the show directory.  I think you accidentally changed the number and forgot or didn't realize it.  Feel free to show me a video that proves the upgrade can change network setup values.

Well.....considering that I NEVER go into setup EVER and version 37 was working perfectly right before I upgraded......I guess we can chalk it up to gremlins!

But I'm a great 'destructive tester'....LOL 

If there's a way to break something I'll find it....things designers NEVER thought of I walk right into.....  It's either a gift or a cruse.....
