Longer Model / Display Element Names Cut Off
« on: July 12, 2016, 12:56:20 AM »
I don't know if this is a bug or just a planned change...or maybe I'm just losing my mind...but I hadn't upgraded in about a month until today so who knows.  Anyway.

In the sequencer tab to the left of the sequencer space where the models/display elements are laid out, I noticed that the names of some of my models are getting cut off.  Some of them have longer names, not super long, but I can no longer read the end of them as it is cut off.  I have a few models with similar beginnings and are differentiated at the end so this is a bit of a nuisance as I've got to go into the Edit Display Elements screen to see what is actually selected.  I can't grab any part of the screen to widen it either so I don't know what else to do.  I'm fairly certain that I hadn't seen this before as it would have prompted me to ask about this earlier.  I'm also not certain what rev this started happening, but I would love for it to get changed if possible so I can see my model names again without having to go into the Edit Display Elements section.

I hope this explanation of my issue made sense.  Thanks!

I'm certain it's been the same all along so one of us is wrong...  It could be me but I like to let others show me cause they love proving me wrong.

Mine have always been cut off, assuming they were long. I noticed this a while ago. I just made names that were short and sweet.

This is why I prefaced my message with "maybe I'm just losing my mind" :)

Well...shoot.  Maybe it just looks different now with the icon that identifies it's a model group that sits over the end of the name in the same space that is causing me to think something is different since that icon is covering part of the name.

Either way, is this even worth requesting to make it adjustable or is it just way too much effort for the return.  I know the developers have tons on their plate and bigger fish to fry but I just thought I'd throw it out there in case it was something simple.  If not, I'll shorten my naming :)

Thanks all!

I assume you know that Gilrock is one of the developers?

It's been brought up before and the consensus at the time was to shorten the names. But, submit an enhancement request on github, the worse they can say is no.

Haha, yeah James, I did :) But my question of whether the effort was even worth the return was a broad one to Sean, Gil, Dan and Keith.

You're right though...I can submit the enhancement request.  Thanks!
