P10 odd behavior
« on: July 23, 2016, 06:57:19 PM »
I have a strange problem with my P10's and xLights and I'm at a loss for what to try next. I just received them last week and I brought them to the Denver meet up earlier today where I had many people helping with the problem. I'm new to xLights, coming over from Vixen 3, and all I'm trying to accomplish is to have the P10's working normally and I can take it from there.

It's a 2x2 matrix and all effects generated on it are distorted in shape, color or both. At the meetup today we verified that all configurations and orientation are correct. We swapped out all ribbon cables, used different P10's, moved the power supply, swapped out the octoscroller and later the BBB. None of these fixed the problem. Then we used a different computer to send the data and everything worked normally. This indicated the problem was with the computer / xLights. We figured that perhaps I had a bad install of xLights, so once I got home I uninstalled xLights and made certain that all directories were deleted. Next I downloaded version 41 and went through the setup to create the matrix and start a new sequence. The results are the same problems that I had previously. I tried this on both a desktop and a laptop with the same results. There has to be something that is being overlooked. After all the troubleshooting today at the meetup I know that the hardware works and is configured properly. Any thoughts?

When you used the different computer, did you use your files or did you start over?

I started over on the other computer. Also I'm running the BBB in bridge mode while I'm doing the testing. Just now my desktop started working normally from out of nowhere. I still had the laptop open and plugged the BBB into that and the problem is still on that one. I really want to look at those side by side now and see if there are any differences. They should be identical setups, but independently created. The wife is pulling me away for the evening, so I probably won't be able to do more work on this tonight.
