Complete lockup MAC .44 when making changes to a model
« on: August 09, 2016, 04:32:11 PM »
I have a reproducible case where I want to make a change to the start channel on a particular model and it sends lights into never-ever land. I have to force quit. This is when making changes to Arches-7, I have attached the xml files.
I was trying to change the start channel so that it is after Arches-6

Arches-7 is already set to the end of Arches-6 in your file.

And that would be causing Xlights to lockup?

No I'm saying I can't reproduce the problem because that channel is already set to what you told me you were trying to do that locks it up.  What are the steps I can do with your file to cause a lockup?

drat I took that copy of the rgbeffects after I had fixed it in the xml editor.

I think the issue was that the models had been named and channel assigned automatically and I then went and changed their names and then subsequently to change the start channels is when it hung up. I fixed arches 7 in the editor and found it hang up again later when I went to change another start channel. I suspect that I had got it confused enough that it went to not responding mode.

I have now renamed and reassigned my channels by a) fixing start channels in the editor and b) being careful about the order I rename, save and reassign the channels.

Thanks for taking look Gil.

I did just find a circular reference problem if you have models where the chaining loops back onto itself there was no way to fix it without manual editing.  Dan just pushed a change that fixes it.  Maybe that's what you hit but on my machine it caused an endless loop and not a crash.

It didn't crash, it went into a 'not responding' loop
