Newbie House Outline
« on: October 30, 2016, 06:48:44 AM »
New to RGB this year. So far I have a mega tree and arches. I'm looking to run strips for house outline, but not sure about how many controllers and power injection.

If you were able to do a tree and arches, then an outline is no different. As far as controllers, one of falcon 16 would do.

Power injection depends on the kind of strips, can't really answer without knowing. In my opinion, I would go with bullets. They are easier to work with, repair, run across house outlines, etc.

I would start with a sketch. Figure out dimensions, then figure out many lights. After that it will be easier to answer your questions.

Thank you for quick reply.

I created a rough sketch of whole setup. The purple lines are E1.31 RGB elements. The yellow lines are dumb LED LOR AC elements. The total feet of roof and windows is 250 feet. If I ran WS2811 30/10 strips then it would be 750 pixels.  Any help will with layout of controllers and lights etc. would be greatly appreciated.

I don't use strips, so I'm not the best to answer. If you use bullets, expect around 50 5v pixels and 120 12v pixels before you need to inject power (this is an estimate and can change depending on vendor). Once you get data to the first node, the data basically gets regenerated. Depending on controller and wiring, there is a limit to how far you can go from output to first node. Some things to keep in mind.
