Preveiw not exactly like the model
« on: September 18, 2014, 07:35:48 AM »
I know I read this some where on here, can not find it, I just finished rewriting one of my Lor sequences to xlights, created all my effects for my pixel tree, when I play it back in the model it works perfectly, when I play preview it is all over the place, what am I missing here? the first 8 seconds of the sequence as no elements but when I play it in the preview tab the first 8 seconds shows butterfly effect has me stumped.

suppose you have 400 channels of LOR.
you import this file into xlights. How many channels are there?
answer is how many you defined in the SETUP tab. For example i have 24K channels or 48 universes defined in my SETUP tab.
if i import your file, it will say there have been 24K channels created. The first 400 are filled in, the rest are empty.
Now I go and create some models of megatrees, eaves, arches for rgb. I create effects and press save. Now the xseq file (that has 24K channels) has effects filled in. I then edit models, move things around. i press save. the xseq file will be updated with effects created in the new locations, any artifacts left from before are NOT erased.

if you have effects in places where you dont expect them, create a fresh sequence.

your original was called wizards.mp3, wizards.lms, wizards.xseq, wizards.xml.

create a new sequence , option 3 of open
click that you have a xml file
give it the sound file wizards.mp3
give it your sequence data file name, wizards.xml

save it on top of wizards.xseq

now you have your nutcracker effects populated. What about your LOR data?
just do a conversion
CONVERT
input: wizards.lms
output: xseq. It will default to wizards.xseq
click convert

your 400 channels will be loaded into the xseq and it will not touch the nutcracker effects.

any artifacts should now be gone

E1-31 is up and running, two big thank you's go out to Don White and definitely Donny Carter, both guys have a lot of patience walking me through the set up and now that we are up and running the show will be run using Xlights only, next year should bring more pixels. Don the mistake I made was in the model I some how changed my pixel setup from BRG to RGB and that is what was throwing everything out of wack, Donny picked up on that right away for me, I was using a test string of pixels instead of my show strings which would have showed me right away what was wrong, the test string was a string that Ray sent me. again a big thank you to both guys.
