creating a new element with the latest update
« on: October 05, 2016, 05:20:12 PM »
so after a long summer of enjoying the lake life on my boat, it's time to get serious about making some changes to my layout and adding a few new elements. i went in first and did an update of xlights but now i'm lost!! i can't seem to find a video yet showing me how to create a new element with the new updates and layout. i did a search for "new element" in the forum but nothing to help. i've been watching videos and will continue to do so to get caught up. i'm sure it will be easy once i figure out the new stuff but man it sure is different! thanks in advance.

Search YouTube with "Xlights 4 Webinar series " and you will find numerous videos done by Keith about using xlights 4 from setup all the way through to using effects.

Search for the terms model or models and you will probably find more information on the subject.

I seem to recall ( and someone might correct me) that sometimes if you load the background image, even if you don't see it appear,  save at the layout and then shutdown and then reopen xlights it might then show up. But I may be remembering that wrong - you could give it a go.

tried that. i will try again. with a different image. i edited the image to 1200x900 pixels like all pics in the past. i will be back at my show computer in about an hour and will let you know what i come up with

Maybe OpenGL issues if it's been a long time since you upgraded.  Do a Tools -> Package Log Files and post it.

Your preview width and height are set to 1.   Thus, it's trying to scale the entire display to fit into a single pixel.  That likely won't work very well.   ;D
