Importing Vixen 2.x, or + into XLights 2017.9
« on: April 12, 2017, 02:52:57 PM »
Ok,

So I am adding more pixels into my display this season, and while I love and know Vixen 2.1 & Vixen+, I need a program that handles pixels more efficiently. I took last year off due to other projects, but as I remember it I was able to import my sequences into XLights approx 2 years ago. Now when I go to import my existing sequences and Map the Channels, there is nothing listed under the XLights Channel Mapping, even though I have my layout completed and all the channels configured both in XLights setup and Layout.

So what am I doing wrong? I am bringing in the audio during the creation of a new sequence, and have all my Models listed on the Sequencer Page. I then click on Import Effects, open the .vix sequence and the Map Channels window opens. I click on the Map To box next to a Model and there is nothing in the dropdown window, totally blank.

I have also tried to import the sequence during creation using the Data Layer, but when the Sequencer page opens up, the view does not include all my Models and there are no effects on the screen.

I know I can't be the only one converting from Vixen 2.x to XLights, but I am not finding the information I need when searching the various forums!

I forget the exact terminology but I believe you need to do something on the vixen side that flattens the project into the sequence.

If you look at the post just before yours in this sub-forum the instructions are in the last post of that topic.
