New Sequence - Populate Grid update
« on: October 16, 2016, 11:54:37 PM »
Apologies in advance if this feature is already available (if it is let me know how please) or if someone has already requested it.

When starting a new sequence there is the newish feature to populate the grid with either All Models, Groups or Empty, which is a handy feature but..

Is there someway you can save one of your own populated grids and have that as an option when creating a new sequence?
eg. Halloween Models, Christmas Models

Also with the All Models the order appears to be random, is there someway this could be sorted, by group then model name alphabetically?

I know you guys are busy and these features may be too difficult/time-consuming to program; just something to ponder. :)

I know just enough to be dangerous :0

Yes that's already available.  You should be creating yourself some Views and once you do they will be available in that drop-down list.  When you right-click a row heading and do "Edit Display Elements" you can create new Views from that dialog.  We always recommend you create a View to be the main view you want to use whenever you create a new sequence.  Otherwise you only have the Master View which is local to the sequence and not available when creating new sequences.

Normally it works better to have your different shows in different folders.  I have 2016 Halloween and 2016 Christmas and a bunch of others I use for testing.  Just go to the setup tab and change to the folder you want.  I always start by coping my xlights_rgbeffects.xml and xlights.network.xml files to the new folder.  For Halloween I don't use any of my Christmas centric props so in that setup on the layout tab I just delete them so there is no confusion in me or the program.

Even if you have different folders you still need to be making yourself a primary view that you will use for new sequences.  Do it for every show folder.
