Need help with grouping (if I am doing it right)
« on: November 04, 2016, 09:41:16 AM »
So first year doing rgb and trying to start simple but having some issues.  I have my roofline setup with 3 different poly-lines.  Everything works well if I assign an effect to them individually (such as marquee) but I wanted to make a group where I can assign an effect to them as a whole so they were synced.  I thought that is what making a model group would do but when I make the group (called it roofline) and put a marquee effect on the group it does not render any effect.  Is there something I am missing?

Ok.. been messing around with stuff and for some reason it comes down to the "Default Layout Mode" selection.. but no clue why.  I figured grid as preview is what I wanted but it seems to work if I change it to Overlay Scaled.  Not sure why.. will have to do more digging.

I usually have my default layout mode set up as minimal grid. And in your case you could then set the render Style as single line. You can also set up sub models that would treat your roofline has one continuous line. Xlights gives you many different ways to accomplish this.

Any time you drop an effect on a group and it doesn't look the way you think it should, try the different Render Styles in the Layer Settings window.

Different effects respond differently.  Marquee effect is one that's more difficult to get all the models in a group to match.
