RGB mapping WITHIN a model?
« on: November 19, 2016, 11:05:45 PM »
I've got a problem that I'm sure has cropped up before or if not, it probably will start to more and more now that more of us have had pixels out in the elements for several years now. If there's an existing solution, my search skills haven't been able to find it but I know it should be solvable via software even though the root of the issue is hardware.

I've got fire sticks or poles with pixels running up and down them that I strap to my palm trees. They've been a great addition to the display and are a popular element. They're made of up of a series of rectangular pixel nodes each having 3 RGB LED's in it. Now for the problem... for the past year or so I've had enough spare rectangular nodes left over from the original purchase that I could swap in new nodes for those that shorted out or lost a color channel. I'm now out of those original node and using new rectangular pixel nodes that were purchased this year vs 3 or 4 years ago like the original and the problem is that instead of the channel order being RGB they're GBR or something like that so that when I want to have the whole pole red for example, all nodes are red except for the new one which is green.

I know I can change RGB to GRB and such in almost any controller but that assumes the whole string of pixels are like and uniform which is not the case anymore. What I'm looking for is some way in xlights to say that my "front right palm tree" which is modeled as a string of 60 pixels is the way a model like this would be setup by default except that node 13 is GBR instead of RGB so that when the sequence runs the colors are flipped for just this one node in the string.

Is there a way to do this?

I'm sure others have, or will, encounter this same issue as time marches on and we all have to spot repair pixel nodes with stock/inventory that wasn't manufactured or purchased at the same time as the original set of pixels on the prop were.

Thanks,

If you're running a controller like F16v2 you could fix it there.

And if you're not?

Then you're out of luck.  Can't fix it from within xLights.

And missing out on the best controller.
