Superstar morph import help
« on: November 30, 2016, 06:00:54 AM »
I've been using "importi effect" to apply some 16 string superstar sequences to my new 360deg pixel trees, including a 72x225 tree. The morphs always are slightly smaller after importing, i.e., X1a=3 and Xta=96 and I have to change to 0 and 100.
Am I missing something?

Everything in xLights is based on percentages.  For a 12 ribbon tree any value between 0 and 8% is going to place it on ribbon 1 so it wouldn't matter if the value is 3% it still ends up on ribbon 1.  But a 72 ribbon tree is really too big for an import because we don't have decimal places in the percentages so 100/72 will give resolution of 1.38% so that means a lot of percentages are going to be rounded to the nearest integer.  When we started there were typically only 12 and 16 ribbon tree sequences.  The code would need to be modified to support decimal places in the percentages to work better with these larger model sizes but to be honest that would make it a pain for those of us with smaller trees because I often click on a slider and use the arrow keys to move the value.  If we added two decimal places then it would multiply the number of arrow presses I'd need to hit by 100.

Thanks for the reply. I assumed that it was something along those lines. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something simple to make it easier.
P.S. Thanks to xLights and FPP, I've jumped from 19k to 145k channels. Trying to keep up the 'Texas' size theme has always had it's challanges...
