CCR's with xlights
« on: February 13, 2014, 11:54:40 PM »

Has anyone got CCR's working with xlights yet
I tried several things, but all I display with testing is garbage

My CCR's are running through a j1sys D4
Here is how they are mapped

Universe 2 -> channel 1 to 150 (LOR 1)
Universe 2 -> channel 161 to 311 (LOR B)
Universe 2 -> channel 321 to 471 (LOR 16)

Universe 3 -> channel 1 to 150 (LOR 1)
Universe 3 -> channel 161 to 311 (LOR B)
Universe 3 -> channel 321 to 471 (LOR 16)

Universe 4 -> channel 1 to 150 (LOR 1)
Universe 4 -> channel 161 to 311 (LOR B)
Universe 4 -> channel 321 to 471 (LOR 16)

Universe 5 -> channel 1 to 150 (LOR 1)
Universe 5 -> channel 161 to 311 (LOR B)
Universe 5 -> channel 321 to 471 (LOR 16)

Each universe is 512 channels on the J1sys D4

Universe 2 starts out on channel 513 in xlights/nutcracker

I created a model of a matrix (12 strings x 50 pixel nodes = 150 channels) starting at channel 513 and have done it several ways

1. start at 513 add 150 channels to get the next number (663) for the next string
2. start at 513 add 150 channels then add 10 CCR control channels and get (673) for next string

I Always start on the correct channel boundary after exceeding 3 CCR's per universe
CCR's are set up correctly as they work in LOR sequence in DMX mode (native I believe)

Any Ideas on how to make it work

I can help with troubleshooting as I have 17 CCR's all running through E1.31 to DMX gateways working correctly in LOR, but not xlights

Got it figured out

It was a matter of getting the correct channel layout for the Matrix
I can now run CCRs in the Preview that I imported in as well as display new sequences properly

I will test the export to see if it works back into LOR, just for fun :)

Preview works fine

However, xlights controlling the CCR's still has problems
Here is what I notice

1. If the LOR Control panel is not running, the Keep-alive is not steady to the CCR controller through the J1sys D4 (blinking light) / This cycles on and off every so many seconds
2. If the LOR Control panel is running, the keep alive is steady, (Light is steady RED)
However, the output does not stay on... it looks like it resets every so many seconds.

I can help with this as much as possible, just let me know where I can help

I don't have a D4, but the D2 has some keep alive settings in it.   What settings do you have there?

On the xLights side, I think we are only sending out a packet every 10 frames if nothing has changed. Looking in the code, I specifically see the comment:

        // skipping would cause ECG-DR4 (firmware version 1.30) to timeout
        if (xNetwork_E131_changed || SkipCount > 10)

so SOMEONE at one point determined that the 10 skips was OK for the D4.    Definitely check the D4 setup to make sure the keep-alives are on, likely with a 150ms time or so.   See if that helps.   My D2 is in storage right now, but I can pull it out and check my settings if you need them.
