Effect Settings appear to be "locked up"
« on: April 26, 2017, 04:16:38 PM »
Hi folks,

I'm importing .lms files from a vendor and he is telling me I have to change my "effect settings" but when I try to do so, none of the dropdown menus respond.

I've attached a video to illustrate what I'm seeing.

I am using xLights 2017.9 64bit on a Macbook Pro.

Thanks!
Kevin

That's not a bug.  You need to create Face Definitions for the Model over on the Layout tab using the model properties.  See my attached screenshot.

After you create Face definitions they will be available in that dropdown for that model on that effect.

Thanks Gil but I think I've always had face definitions under the layout tab (see attached).

Maybe I've configured something incorrectly?

Yeah that would have been nice to show in the video since I don't read minds.  Anyways I watched your video again and the problem is you clicked on the row heading for Tree 1.  You need to click on an actual Faces effect to alter its effect settings.  You can't change effect settings by clicking on a row the settings are specific to each effect.

Thanks for your help Gil.

I know how busy you must be and I'm sure it's frustrating when a noob like me struggles with the simplest tasks.

I really do appreciate the "course corrections" you and others in this forum provide.
