Flood Light Mapping
« on: October 10, 2017, 10:04:06 PM »
Having an issue understanding the mapping from Pi running FPP to F16V3 running a xlights sequence.
5 RGB floods connected to 5 Easy DMX Controllers which are daisy chained together at output to DMX 2 port on the controller.
Dip Switches from left to right are set at 1,4,7,10,13
Channels in all are set to 3187,3190,3193,3196,3199 (because the serial port wont accept start channel 1 on F16V3)
So the first flood lights but that's it.....
Any insight on this would be appreciated......im going crazy no understanding the manuals on this!!!  lol

I really think you need to just put all those floods on one universe but to me the problem looks to be you have the FPP start channels listed as 1, 4, 7, 10, and 13 in that first screenshot.  Then everywhere else you are using the start channels up near 3199.

Yes.  I do know that the channels don't coincide with one another.  The reason is that the F16V3 will not allow me to enter in serial data #2 a start channel of 1.  I don't get why...but it seems I can only specify a channel over 1651 which is the first channel of my universe on the controller.

I'm pretty new to all this and I have tried to find out more info searching on the forums but no dice as of yet.

Thanks for weighing in on this I do appreciate it!

Oh....and I will try putting them all on one universe today.....currently one light does work but the rest do not

Yes it's probably not letting you use channel 1 because you are using absolute addressing mode and you do not have channel 1 included in any of the input definitions.  I like to use universe channel mode and I believe in that mode you can tell the falcon serial port which universe to use and then start channel would be 1.  I'm not sure the Falcon serial ports will cross over 4 universes like the way you have yours defined.

So it is working!
Ok Gilrock......put everything on one universe, set all the channels to 1,4....etc., DEFINED ch 1 in the inputs (duh), Serial Address on Com2 as start channel 1 and BOOM goes the dynamite!
So thanks!!  Sometimes it just needs someone else to take a different look at it (and more smarts than I do) to push you in the right direction so TY!
And if there is one thing I really have learned doing all this....
HIT THE SAVE BUTTON BERFORE YOU LEAVE THE SCREEN!!!!!!
