Crete random effects
« on: May 23, 2017, 04:35:35 AM »
When I try and use this , nothing happens.

How does this work ?   Is it like an auto sequencer ?

just click in a "cell" (say between 2 timing marks), right click and select "Create Random Effect".
A random effect will be placed in the area you've selected.

It's not really like an auto sequencer and some of the effects won't work properly on some models. but it can be fun to play with and see what effects work and don't.
You could in theory select a whole row or even your whole layout and create random effects for the whole lot, here's a snippet of what that may look like:
I know just enough to be dangerous :0

Hard to tell what you are doing wrong unless we see the screen.  Clicking the model is unnecessary you just need to select cells.  You should be able to click and drag to select more than one.  You must have timing marks defined to be able to have cells.

That may be the issue.  Timing marks.  I am almost positive I don't have any.  Guess I need to learn how to add these :)

Make sure timing track has the little circle selected then just click in the waveform area and press "t" to create timing marks.  Or you can learn to run the QM Vamp plugins to create a new timing track that automatically has all the beats marked.

If yoyu look at the png above , at the very top of the picture is a red line, that is the timing mark.
If you dont have nay then this is quick way to to do so
Select a sequence first.
Click on Settings-> click Sequence settings-> Timings tab.
Click on new (at bottom of box), this opens up to a dialog box called New Timings,
select 50ms and press ok,
timing mraks will appear on the worksheet area of XL4 and you can select "Cells" to add effects.
If you install Vamp plugins they will found in the same spot, instead of selecting 50ms, the list of plugins will show up and away you go.
