Video and LYrics out of sync

HI, i have a song for which i have just completed the singing faces for (4 Of) and i find the video is out of sync with the song, Have gone back and tried the original MP4 as the music track and for some reason the MP3 music track misses 3.5 seconds and a verse.
Question is :-
1 can move all my lyrics to the right the required time spaces
2 if not i could possibly using window movie maker to remove the time period from the video
(dont think it would be missed )
3 any other easy solutions greatly appreciated

If you need to shift all effects including timing effects you can use the Edit -> Shift Effects feature.

If you just want to shift timing effects uncheck the timing track, zoom out, drag a selection box around the timing effects, hold down shift and grab to move them around as a group.

Or you could just use the video as the audio.

Thanks for replies  Fellas, tried using the audio as the video and that's when i realised there was an error in the mp3. Tried using Movie maker but messed up that as well. So will try Gil's method, if that works it will be simple fix, so thank you in advance

Hello again, i actually want to move the lyrics to the right and insert one extra line of lyrics into the middle of the lyric track.
Edit- Shift moves all the lyrics to the right, in doesn't insert the selected time span.
Using the shift key only selects effects to move not the lyrics.

Everything on the grid is an effect and can be selected and moved.  Lyrics are effects.  Phoneme's are effects.  The only caveat to selecting them is that you must uncheck all the timing tracks.  And since I believe that is what you missed in my earlier instructions I'll say that it's the little circles beside the timing track name.  They must be all open circles and not filled in.

Sorry Gil , but i realise it must be 'FFS' moments when dealing with us fools however....,
unticking all timing tracks -  cannot move lyrics or phonemes -cannot select them and have them stay selected
delete timing  tracks - cannot move lyrics or phonemes
however you can move effects (have block of random effects and can move them)
Using version 17
 will go back several versions  and see if any different:
tried back at version 10- can select lyrics and phonemes- couldn't move them
yes tried large block and small separate sections but no movement.
Apologies for being a pain- any further ideas (or i have found a bug or have i just stuffed up something basic -DOH moment to come?)

Well I do this operation every time I give my Singing Faces training.  I select a block of lyrics/words/phonemes and I create a copy, paste it, then I move the pasted copy.  So I know this works.  Hard for me to tell how you are attempting to do it.  When you say you "cannot select them and have them stay selected" that means you are able to select them correct?  So what action are you doing that is causing them to become unselected?  Once they are selected if you hold down the Shift key and then grab one of the selected effects they all move as a group.  If that really doesn't work then I guess we need to quit talking about it and you need to actually share the sequence you are dealing with to see if there is something unique about it.

Apologies but that is first time i have heard of the copy and paste process,
Tried it and  could copy and paste but can not move the copied lyrics  and phonemes

When i slect a section it turns purple but i can't move any of the selection
The select /unselect  problem appears to have gone now Ive been back to V10 and now V17 again

Have added XML file . hope this is what you need to check

Ok I'll try it tonight.  I always worry when someone says they went to an older version because we don't support going backwards.  We have code that attempts to upgrade effects and other things when you go forwards so going backwards sometimes causes that code to run again and messes something up.

No I didn't remember this thread but now that I'm looking you didn't provide enough for me to look into it.  We always need your xlights_rgbeffects.xml file.  We've provided a "Package Sequence" tool in the menus that create a zip file with everything we need for troubleshooting.

HI Gil thanks for reply, i don't know whats changed but i can now move the lyrics/Phonemes, (tried this morning before running package sequence, So I will stop bothering you (for now) and see how i get on.
Again thanks for help and yes i did follow your instructions,
so i seriously don't know why its behaving correctly now or misbehaving before. But thanks again for a robust piece of software

UPDATE - ERROR IS BACK
1. opened sequence and selected matrix/video to check sync, ok for bit i had moved. Went to move next section around and cant select/unselect lyrics etc..
2. reopened sequence and xl4 again - can select lyrics to move but holding shift key and left mouse to move lyrics deselects section you have selected and you cant move
The package is over 170gB so i wont be sending it through sorry

170 gigabytes?  What the hell?  I just packaged a sequence for someone today and it was 9 megabytes.  Can you tell us what file is so darn big inside that zip file?

By the way you said something about selecting a matrix video well you probably triggered a long render of that effect.  Have you done a render all, let it complete, and then see how the selection and dragging works? If the program is off doing other rendering work maybe that's the problem.

i have let it render, but the mp4 is 46MB  and the package zipped is 142 mb.
Sorry got my GB and MB muddled, Any rate have worked around it.
Taking the mp4 out and render /save / package drops file size to 96mb.
 So thanks again for help, apologies for wasting your time - but it must be at my end as no one else has had this problem.
