Co-Neck-Shun
« on: June 30, 2017, 03:07:43 PM »
Im sure we've all seen the youtube vid of Matt Johnsons light show.  Well he also has a tutorial on how to make a wreath.  Now my question is... After he zip ties all the lights to the frame he says he daisy chains all the rows together.  How exactly do you chain them together?  I have an idea but just wanted to make sure its done right.   Im doing a smaller version of his but its pretty much the same.
Any info..advise..or input would b greatly appriciated.

Thx
G

if its daisy chained then i guess
pigtail > row 1> pigtails> row 2 > pigtails> row 3.....etc
That way if a row fails you could replace easily
Might be over simplification( apologies) but i work on K.I.S.S, principles

You can wire props in any configuration you want you just need to keep the arrows on the pixels going the same direction away from the controller. Just remember when you're done you have to match the model you make an xlights to how you actually wired the model. When I wire a model I always see if I can get the first and last pixels close to each other so I can tie the power together between the first and last pixel.

I was going to ask the same thing.  I didn't know if you were having trouble daisy chaining the model in xlights or daisy chaining the real wires.  If it's the wires then its no different than if you cut the cable between 2 pixels and then soldered in a longer cable in between.

I looked at his video and I didn't hear him mention daisy chaining rows together.  It would help to provide the link and a timestamp when you are asking a question referencing a video.  Also his rings have a huge gap in between but yours are so close together you don't even need to cut the wire to start each new ring.
