2017.24 released. ALPHA release
« on: August 20, 2017, 10:20:16 PM »
xLights 2017.24 released
This release is marked as ALPHA. If you are a new user of xlights hold off downloading this release. For power users, this release has some bug fixes, it also has made a change to value curves. Before the value curve shown was 0-100 no matter what the slider values. If you had a slider that varied for -20 to 20 for speed, it was shown as 0-100 in the value curves. This change by keith puts the actual slider values as the range. So , here is potential issue. If you download this release , use it for a week and decide to go back a version, you cant. Because the value curves will be converted when you open ver 23 or earlier. We do not have a way to reverse this. Now, I have moved to this new release as I have confidence that any issues will be addressed (each and every issue over last few years has been addressed).

So;
1) If you are new or just learning DO NOT upgrade to ver 24
2) If you are experienced upgrade with the understanding that issues will need to be fixed.
3) Finally, ALWAYS fo a F10 backup before you upgrade to any release of xlights. This would be a good time to make sure all your xml files are also backed up to a second location (usb or dropbox,.etc.)
4) If you do not use value curves at all, this release is behind and you can go ahead and upgrade without fear.

Keith will probably make a video describing new features.

Thanks to everyone for making this software great.  Would it be possible to get a similar notification when the mac software is updated?  Just noticed there have been some a,b,c releases recently that I was not aware of.

The abc releases were not announced because they were not official releases. They were test builds for specific issues.

I'm on vacation this week.  Not sure when I'll get to build the Mac version.

I don't see the .24 release on GitHub.  I was looking to see if I forgot to checkin my last change but I guess you pulled before I pushed the change.

I think Sean was heading off to see the eclipse. It was late and I guess he forgot.

Thanks for that - answered my next question.
