Help! I may have nuked my entire show
« on: August 31, 2017, 01:37:03 AM »
I had a small problem with my arches. The first arch was not running right to left like the others. I was going to post for a fix.
I deleted all models except for the arch, to post. It affected all my sequences. All is lost.
Is there any way to recover?
Every time I open a different sequence it changes the date and removes the tree, and other effects.
Is there a way to recover?

Do you not have a backup folder in your show folder with lots of old copies of your sequences?

Hold on.  If you delete a model and then open another sequence yes it will prompt you that model is gone and delete the effects after allowing you to reassign to a different model.  But as long as you don't re-save that file after seeing it deleting everything nothing is lost.

I looked, autosaved was checked for 3 mins. I dont think I set that. Is it default?
I am able to change to the onstart folder backup and my show is there. Whew!
Rookie panic... probably because I had this issue with another sequencer and lost my first sequence that could'nt be retrieved. Many hours lost.
I may have only lost an hour of editing.  So should I just delete the corrupted ones from the main folder and move the Onstart backup files to the original directory.
I dont want to mess up again.

Auto save does default to 3 mins. If you are happy with the backups you can copy them into your show folder but you may want to back that stuff up first. Also make sure xlights isn't open when you do. If you had work in progress that was auto saved it will be in the xbkp files. These are just the xml files with a different extension. Rename them and open them and you may have not lost much at all.

I have used the xbkp files before. I only found the onstart files today. What a great feature!
Kudos to the x-lights team for creating such a great product and great support for rookies! You saved me from myself.
