Need Help how to add DMX Floods to existing Pixel sequence
« on: September 07, 2017, 05:33:28 PM »
I have 36 DMX RGB 20W floodlights and need some help on how to best add them to an existing Pixel only program run with xLights.
Win 10 Pro X64
xLights 2017.14 64bit
2each SanDevices E6804s
800 Pixels working just fine.

Adding the 36 DMX RGB 20W floods to one(1) DMX port on one E6804 distributed thru a 8 port DMX Amp.
The DMX Flood lights are connected and work ok with the longest distance of 360' over cat5 from the E6804.

The Layout model for the existing 800 Pixels has 20 Single Lines Nodes/pixels (largest is 100 pixels) with sequence/effects as Color Bars. (They work ok with palette Rep of 6; but would like to know if there is a way to have every other pixel a different color).

The Layout model for adding 36 DMX RGB Floods also as Single line Light/String 1 ( with sequence/effects as color ON. (They also work).

What I would like help with is:
My objective is to have a Animation only (no Music);
BUT no animation static on pixel and flood colors most of the year.
Is there an effect better to use than "single line" Color bars for the pixels?
Is there an effect better to use than "single line" ON for DMX RGB floods ?

Note: When I'm all done, there won't be any lights to change in the yard at Xmas or other holidays only xLights programing!  The rest of the time the yard will be Pixels and Floods set to on at 50% white or as close to warm white as possible.

Any help is appreciated! thanks...

There are tons of ways to produce different effects.  Need to know exactly what you want.  Marquee is also good for single line type models.  If you want different color every other pixel the easiest way would be to drop an effect that gives lots of random colors like maybe a Twinkle effect with the count cranked up and a rainbow palette.  If you want to turn off every other pixel then you need to create another layer and drop something like a marquee over top with a Black/White/Black/White/etc. pattern and then set it as a mask.

Thanks,
What I would like to start with is 3 colors repeating on the Pixels. For example 4th of July RWB and Xmas 4 or 5 colors. 4th of July in Colors I set as R, W, and B. then on the 100 node pixel string in effects settings it lets me set the "palette Rep" max to 5 which then displays 6 pixel for each color RWB. I was hoping to get one pixel R, one pixel W, and one pixel B as a repeat.

As you can tell I'm really new at using xLights.

I will work with your Twinkle recommendation and see what it looks like. thanks.

I have not yet learned how to use Layers and will likely need too.

DMX RGB Floods do you have a recommendation on the Layout type (I'm using Single Line) and Effect to use?

SingleStrand or Marquee should be easy to get a repeating color pattern.
