alternate way to test RGB strips?
« on: October 15, 2017, 10:18:30 PM »
Hey folks, I realize I can setup and use xlights to test my strips.  Just don't have my controller setup at this time.

Does anyone know of some sort of controller/device that can be used to test your strips directly, w/out having to hook up controllers,cat5 etc.  Just help get past a project sooner.

I have seen one somewhere, just can't remember where.  You had a hookup for your 3pin data cable, then could turn on the strip and test the RGB colors.

Thanks if any info. If not, tis cool. Just have to work on Plan B when I get off my 3 day trip.

Best,
David

This is very simple for testing 3 or 4 wire strips.

Dave, you saw this controlling my hat a few weeks ago.

5v or 12v. Set the parameters with your phone. For the kind of testing you want, just set the string count very high (1024) and it will work for shorter lengths.
