P10 panel matrix appears low resolution for effects...
« on: November 29, 2017, 04:30:09 PM »
Not sure exactly what’s happening, but when I add effects to my new p10 panel Matrix (4x5) im noticing that rendered effects appear very blockey....like 6x6 pixel blocky...

I still have some testing to do, but it’s definitely happening on old sequences that I’ve added the matrix to....

Is there a setting somewhere for “resolution” of effects?    Or perhaps I need to delete my fseq’s and re-render?

If this isn’t obvious I’ll try the fseq process and post some pictures.

OK, perhaps I've figured out what's happening (although i'm not sure how to fix it)

My yard is pretty big, so the matrix is small in comparison..when I apply an effect directly to the matrix, it renders fine at the proper resolution, but when I apply an effect to "whole house" which includes everything, it renders very blocky..I'm thinking due to how small it is on the "whole house" group model.

Does this make sense?

Attached are the model previews of my matrix...one with the pinwheel effect applied to the "whole house", and the other with the exact same pinwheel effect applied directly to the matrix....notice the difference in resolution of the diagonal lines.  The direct matrix effect is pretty much pixel level accurate, but the whole house one is using a much lower resolution.

In Layout, click on your Group and change the pixel resolution using Max Grid Size.

Also, the Default Layout Mode has various choices. Try a few of those to find your best case.

Keep in mind, if you change it for that group in Layout, you will need to Re-render and Save all your sequences that use that group(s).

I do not put my matrices in my wholehouse group for exactly the reason you are experiencing.  For me I have plenty of props so that leaving out all 3 of my matrices from the wholehouse effects really has no major impact on any sequence I have used so far.

Thanks.

Increasing the gird size on the model helps a bit, but doesn't get all the way there...I think the upper limit of 2000 present the problem perhaps.

I'm going to have to probably rework some stuff so that I apply the effect directly to the matrix...that should work in most cases...but I have a few where I've got (like my example) a pinwheel centered on the matrix that extends out into other elements (making a really cool sweep of color)...

At least the reason makes sense now.

Thanks again
