Matrix help
« on: December 02, 2017, 05:05:19 PM »
Cannot get matrix to display text properly. Seems like the text is to high. I tried moving text using offset clicking offset by pixel. its a 12 string by 96 pixel matrix with no looping back. each string has it own channel. controller is a alphapix 16. I have a mega tree that I display text on, no problem. I just dont get how this is any different from that.
I have upload screen shots of layout setup and controller web page. Thanks in advance for your help.

But other effects work. So we really need to see your text effect settings.

Try unchecking the Offsets in Pixels box?

Is the Layer Settings box showing 0x100 and 100x0 (full sized) ?

So if it shows on the screen then it isn't a text effect problem. Your problem is what you are seeing on the screen isn't what is happening on your lights.

Correct Keith. So to be clear, on the computer screen it looks the way I want it to. On the actual matrix out on the roof it looks as though the text is pushed way to the top and it seems like I am only seeing the very bottom half of the text. I have tried moving the text with the offset option both with the offset pixel box checked and unchecked to no avail.

Do other effector look right on your lights?  The answer has to be no ... as there is nothing special about the text effect here.

Tell us about your matrix and how you have it configured in XLights.

How many connections on your controller. How wide. How high. How many times zig zagged.

I have not tried other effects. The matrix is 12 lines 96 nodes long. Each line has it's own channel on a alphapix 16 controller. First post has a screen shot of controller web page with settings.

Change all your XLights 1601+ universes to 288 channels.

Keith that was the trick. I also delted the unused 4 outputs. Why does it not work when you have more channels than needed? does the register, bucket or ram location fill with he unused channel call outs? My mega tree worked with extra channels. Thanks again for the help.
 Sincerely
 Scott

Because we render assuming the channels are contiguous as you defined it in XLights.
